Inverclyde Sharks 22 - Moray Firth Dolphins 6.

The BYAFA Scottish Division kicked off their season with an intriguing battle between the Sharks and Dolphins, with the entire scoring coming in the first two periods.

The Sharks broke the deadlock in the first quarter when running back D. Banks scooted his way into the end zone from around thirty yards out for the afternoon’s first touchdown. Quarterback Campbell hooked up with wide out Parker to convert the extra two points. While the Dolphins were still finding their feet, Parker picked up a fumble and dashed home to pad the lead to 14 – 0. The two-point attempt was unsuccessful.  The Dolphins clawed their way back into the game when Brian McKane intercepted a wayward pass and returned it 22 yards for a score. This time the Dolphins failed to convert the extra two points, leaving them trailing 14 – 6 as the opening quarter expired.

Parker snared an 18-yard Campbell touchdown pass midway through the second, with M. McAlonan notching the extra two to extend the Sharks lead to 22 – 6.

Neither side could trouble the scoreboard for the entire second half as defenses reigned supreme in a game that was hard fought and played in excellent spirit.
