Prior to appointing a person to a role, for positions that requires regular contact with and young people, a formal or informal interview should take place to:
Verify the applicant's qualifications.
Make enquiries regarding the applicant's experience of working with young people.
Clarify the expectations and responsibilities of the role
Establish any training needs.
Explain Child Protection procedures.
Ensure the applicant signs up to the organisations Code of Conduct.
It is advisable that the organisation's Welfare Officer be in attendance at such interviews.
