The Warriors soon got back on track after their earlier shock result to Norwich with a score line that
did the visitors little credit and who were very much in the game until the final quarter.
The home side took the early advantage, opening the score in the first quarter when fullback Ike
Okonkwu blasted his way into the end zone from six yards out. With the conversion failing the National
Champions looked to be on their way to a comfortable victory but were matched by a stout Exile side
that matched them stride for stride throughout the remainder of the quarter and all through the second
period. The Exiles even missed a field goal attempt, which would have put them within touching distance
as the half expired.
The Warriors took a step closer to defending their crown in the third, with speedster Calvin Bryan
scampering in for a score from the Exile five-yard line. Once again the two points went begging leaving
the London side with a 12 – 0 lead. The Exiles, playing much more to their potential proved to be
worthy opposition going into the final quarter still only twelve points adrift.
A blazing Calvin Bryan run finally knocked the wind out the game for the Kent based outfit when he
scorched in from nearly eighty-five yards. With the Warriors again failing to convert the extra two
points the home side looked to have the game sewn up at 18 – 0. Dominic Farrell added to the visitors’
woes when he ran through the middle of their defense and notched a further six points. Adding the extra
points the Warriors cruised to a 26 – 0 lead. Dayle Greenfield then connected with Emmanuel Mukoro from
twenty-yards for the Warriors final touchdown of the day. With a further two point added the Exiles
found themselves harshly on the wrong end of a 34 – 0 score.
The Warriors look to have put their upset behind them and are on course to reach the playoffs. If the
Exiles can maintain the spirit and effort they put in then they have every chance of joining them.
