Tamworth Trojans 0 v 18 Bristol Aztecs

Tamworth closed their season with a tough hard-hitting match against top seeded Bristol in the warm midlands sunshine. The Aztecs, who are playoff bound, started the game well opened the scoring with a fifty yard long drive anchored by some solid running by Stef Williams and some key completions by Will Wagstaffe. Eric Dune finally opening the scoring with a blistering thirty yard run to put the visitors 6 – 0 ahead.

Despite some stout defending the English Conference Champions swept further ahead in the second period. As has been the theme throughout the season, the Aztec offensive line of Mitch Turner, Mike Crotch-Harvey, Adam Stenlake, Olly Slim and Simon Ross was opening huge holes, and once again Erich Dune broke free from thirty-five yards to double his tally and score.

The second half proved to be an even tighter affair with the Trojans able to move the ball and exploit gaps in the Bristol defense. However, a Will Wagstaffe dive from the two finally killed off any hope of a game Tamworth revival.

The Aztecs, who have recorded a perfect season, go on to face Clyde Valley Hawks in the playoffs who stand between them and a place in the BYAFA Bowl. The Trojans can feel proud of their achievements this season. They have conducted themselves well, been competitive in all their games except against London Warriors and are moving in the right direction.
