This result came as no shock to anyone except perhaps the Tigers Players themselves. The Rams have
remained competitive throughout the season and the games between these sides have always been close.
Both offenses struggled to find their feet in the first quarter thanks to some ruthless hitting by well
disciplined defenses. The Rams finally broke the deadlock during the second period when Colin Deans
snared a thirty-nine yard pass to give them the go ahead score. With the two extra point conversion
failing the home side closed the half with 6 – 0 lead and the upset of the day looked on the cards.
The Rams eked out their slender advantage when Alan Martin latched onto an errant Tigers pass and took
it back for a score. With their defense reigning supreme the North Lanarkshire outfit closed the third
quarter with a well deserved 12 – 0 advantage.
Scott Watson reduced the arrears for last year’s National championship Finalists with a twenty yard run,
bit it proved to be too little too late as the Tigers crashed to their first defeat of the season.
The Scottish conference is now wide open, and although Glasgow are still in the driving seat they are
by no means home and dry. This result has opened up the way for both Clyde Valley Hawks and the Rams
themselves to progress to the play-offs. The next few weeks will prove very interesting.
