The Hawks took to the road to Cumbernauld for the second consecutive away game of their season for their match up with the Rams. As both sides had narrowly lost to the Tigers in their previous encounters this promised to be an intriguing and close contest.
Both teams were slow to start but on the Hawks second drive Quarterback David Orr linked up on what looked like a fifteen-yard score to Andrew Scott only for the receiver to come down out the back of the endzone. On the visitors next drive the Rams recovered a fumble and behind a powerful ground game marched steadily up field. Thanks to the fierce tackling of both Scott Findlay and Colin Nichol the home side's efforts were blunted and the teams ended the first period all square.
The second period failed to ignite, with both defences not allowing any real progress. Despite a show of excellent youth football neither side managed to bother the scoreboard in the first half.
In the third the game came to life when Hawks' David McGrath blocked a Rams punt allowing Kris Henderson to smother the ball to recover it. Showing his versatility Henderson snared a Darren Brownlie pass to set up a Scott Findlay eight-yard scamper for the opening score. Proving that lightening does strike twice, Blake Kyle blocked the next North Lanarkshire punt with Brownlie this time making the recovery. Hawks quarterback Darren Harvey then pitched the ball to Ryan McCabe who wove his way through for a stunning forty-five yard score and bring the quarter to a close with the score 12 - 0 in favour of the visitors.
As the game moved into the fourth the game Rams began to struggle as several key players took knocks although they fought valiantly to get back on terms. Nichol completed a superb defensive performance by claiming two interceptions, one in his own end zone to kill of any chances of a North Lanarkshire come back.
