The Exiles moved out to 3 – 0 in the Southern Conference against a Trojans outfit that are beginning
to live up to their promise and potential.
The home side, enjoying their best ever season start, quickly gained the upper hand behind the arm of
Ollie Gould who hit Luke Grundy from twenty-eight yards out to open their account for the day. Two
drives later the Exiles eased 12 – 0 ahead when Gould this time linked up with Rory O’Neill as the
visitors took their time to settle. With the two-point conversion being no good the Kent side looked
comfortable at the end of the first quarter.
Aaron Row threaded a short pass through to Shirajul Hoque for the latter to scramble in for the
Midlands side midway through the second to reduce the lead to 12 – 6 and bring the Trojans back into
contention. With the extra two-points again being unsuccessful the Exiles closed out the half with a
less than comfortable 12 – 6 lead.
A combination of misfiring offense and solid run stuffing defense ensured that the score did not change
throughout the third or fourth quarters, allowing the Exiles to notch their third consecutive victory
of the campaign. Tamworth has proved that they are more than capable of competing with the better sides
and should be greatly encouraged. The have all the potential, not to say skill to be one of the leading
sides providing that continue to work and improve
