With a score line like this most would criticize one or both offenses for being unable to move the ball,
but this one of those rare occasions when the game score did not justify the quality of the game. It
was far from dour and dull, but a credit to superb tackling, swarming defenses, positional strengths
and game plans, which led to one of the most exciting games of this or any other season.
A solitary Derek Russell twenty-six yard field goal split the teams in a match up that saw the Glasgow
side extend their lead to 3 – 0 as conference leaders. In the short time they have been together the
Hawks rookies proved they are learning fast and can contend at the very highest level.
With the results in the conference being so close with each game that is played, the Tigers grip on
their title of last year is still tenuous and if the Hawks continue to battle and improve then they are
likely to be there or thereabouts when it is time for the playoffs.
Despite the closeness of the game, the ferocity of the tackling and tension that comes with it,
the match up was played in superb spirit and both sides should be proud of their contribution to an
fascinating game.
