Lancashire Wolverines 18 v 14 North Lanarkshire Rams

Firstly an apology to all Rams players and followers whor read this, but because there was no score summary sheet submitted by your team in time there are no details about your scorers or any outstanding plays etc that may have gone on.

The Wolverines found themselves 14 – 0 in arrears by the end of the first quarter as their defense failed to get a grip on the Rams offense. It wasn’t until midway through the second period that the Matt Lord darted in to open their account and leave the home side still trailing at the end of the half.

A pair of rugged defenses held firm during the third period as the Lancashire outfit struggled to get back on terms. Lord clawed in a David Mead pass to bring the Wolverines within two early in the fourth but still the Rams, last years BYAFA Bowl finalists, held the upper hand. For the second week in a row Lancashire final took the lead and the game within the last two minutes when Mead scampered in himself from seven yards out to seal this narrow victory.

The win puts the Wolverines on top of the Northern Conference for the moment having won their two opening games by a combined total of six points. Their last minute rallies to snatch victory are rapidly earning them the nickname of “The Cardiac Kids”, but if they are to maintain their position then they will need to improve before embarking on their away fixtures.
