Northern Conference Champions, Glasgow Tigers, saw off the challenge of a skilled Rams and condemn North
Lanarkshire, last years Northern Champions, to third spot in the conference. The Tigers eased their way into the
lead with a Kris Kennedy bomb which Kyle Wilson hauled in and completed a sixty-six yard score for the home side.
Derek Russell, as accurate as ever booted the extra two points to move Glasgow a little further ahead. The Rams
however were not going to relinquish their spot in the playoffs without a fight and fought tooth and nail to drag
themselves back into the game. Some solid defense kept the score the same at the end of the first quarter and
blunted both offenses during the second.
The Tigers found the breathing space they needed in the third when the Kennedy to Wilson partnership once again
produced a score with Wilson snaring a twenty-six yard pass. The snap for Russell was too high, preventing the
kicker from adding to his impressive seasons tally but nudging the Tigers that little bit further ahead to 14 - 0.
The Tiger defense, so vastly improved from its season opening
performance blunted everything a resourceful and well coached Rams outfit to could throw at it to finish the
regular season as worthy Northern Conference Champions.
The Tigers now move on to the playoffs to take on the traditional powerhouse Clyde Valley Hawks for the right to
appear at the Ram Stadium on September 11th. With two victories over the Hawks already this season the Glasgow side must fancy their chances
but need to guard against complacency. The Hawks will always pose a threat to anyside taking the field.
The Rams will be invited to represent the North Conference in the
Plate Final, to take on the winners of the Bath Cardinals v Kent Exiles match up.
