Glasgow Tigers 26 v 20 North Lanarkshire Rams

The Tigers continued to show their improvement with this narrow and exciting win over last years Scottish Conference runners-up.

The first quarter remained scoreless as both sides fought to stamp their authority on the game and it wasn't until the second period that Tigers' Quarterback Craig Wilson hit wideout Derek Russell in the end zone from 4 yards out that the Glasgow side opened their account. Russell slotted home the extra two points to give the home side an 8 - 0 advantage. Jamie McCoy snared a David O'Rourke thirty-three yard pass and Paul McGovern notched the extra two to bring the visitors back level. James McIntosh picked off a wayward pass and took the ball back to the Rams one yard line before being hauled down, leaving it to Dean Jardine to dive in for the score. With the conversion being blocked the home side took a 14 - 6 lead into half time break.

Speedster Adam Donaldson bought the sides back level in the third with a thirty-five yard scamper and with the conversion again failing the sides were tired at 14 - 14 at the end of the third period.

Iain "Sparky" Dick edged the Tigers back into the lead with a twenty yard blast only for Donaldson to notch his second score of the day to once again bring the Rams level. Dick, who averaged close to 13 yards a carry for the day, once more took the ball in to score from five yards out. The final few minutes became tense with the Glasgow outfit running the time off the clock only for the Rams to have one last series. Despite moving the ball to the Tigers twenty they were unable to find the final thrust and the home side ran out the final few seconds to secure an impressive victory.
