Lancashire Wolverines 24 v 20 Glasgow Tigers

For the second consecutive week took on Scottish opposition with everything at stake. The Tigers were the first to strike with Darren Banks darting in from seven yards to record the only score of the period. While both sides moved the ball neither could find that final punch to trouble the scoreboard for the remainder of the half.

The Wolverines blazed back in contention at the start of the second half when Sam Fogg collected the kick off and blazed fully eighty yards to tie the score. Not to be outdone, Kyle Wilson took the ensuing kick off eighty-seven yards only to be downed on the Lancashire ten. Ian Dick swept in to restore the visitors lead 12 – 6. Fogg notched his second score of the day speeding in from around twenty yards out to level the score once more. The scoring continued at a pace with Banks recording his second touchdown of the day, this time from thirteen yards. Will McLauchlan ran in the extra two as the Glasgow side moved out 20 –12 only to be pegged back when David Mead hit Mark Shepherd for a sixty yard score to leave the score at a slender 20 – 18 advantage to the Tigers.

A blistering Fogg run from eighty-two yards in the fourth finally put the Wolverines into the lead in a pulsating game which left the home side managing to thwart the Tigers for the rest of the game and book their trip to the Ram Stadium in mid-September.
